Criteria for ALL Divisions

Technical: 100 Points

  • Vili tasi
  • Vili lua
  • Kakai in and kakai out over palm - both right and left hand
  • Toss up and catch in back
  • Toss in air (spin 2.5 times - six feet) catch in back
  • 2 under the leg throws
  • One around the neck motion
  • 3 kneeling motions
  • 3 laying motions
  • Hook doubles for 3 moves

Routine length: 50 Points

  • Senior and Junior Division: at least 6 minutes, no more than 8 minutes
  • Little Warriors: at least 5 minutes, no more than 7 minutes
  • (Routines are timed from when the warrior begins spinning)

Showmanship: 100 Points

  • Body movement and vigor
  • Entrance and exits Height of throws (High points) Difficulty of motions (High points)
  • Speed (High points)

Costume: 25 points

  • All competitors must wear printed Samoan lavalava, trimmed and cut modestly.
  • Must wear Samoan necklace of shells, leaves, or any Samoan material Anklets must be worn, Samoan materials only War paint is optional 15 points will be deducted for each drop
  • No warrior is to leave the stage at any time during his/her performance. This includes jumping down around the stage. There will be a 30 second break between singles and doubles, during which the dancer will remain onstage
